Generator Wiring Question.

Can you please give me a little more info on the Square D panel you mention with the interlock. I have been looking for a way to power my house during black-outs. One problem I have is that I have 200 AMP service with TWO breaker panels.

So I would have to use two of the Square D panels you describe. Do you have a model number or anything that will help me out?

Yes, in my case I'll be doing it as part of the original wire up of the house.......

SQ D makes a few varieties. The one I had seen I can not find a picture of. Here are a couple of different types you could look into:

The attached picture is what I did. I made my own bracket out of some aluminium stock. The sloted holes run over some round stock that is fixed by the two screws. The center screw actually has a small standoff that is a handle to move the lever. As you can see the main must be off to turn on the gen feed breaker and vias versa.

As always, I really appreciate all of the advice/suggestions that you guys give on this site. After much debate, I decided to purchase this;
