Generators: Rated as 'clean power'. How can I tell and is there something to clean it

Harbor Freight has come out with one that they compare to a Honda. I would think that it is clean power. Cheap price too. The predators seem to be holding up well.

It's hard to beat the gold standard in generators - Honda. I recently bought the Honda EU7000is for whole house backup and to use with my welders. The EU7000is is an inverter type and Honda's first fuel injected gen set engine. Starting it is complex though, turn the key to on and push and release the start button :thumbsup:. No choke, no fuel petcock to mess with. Under a light load the engine is running about 2100 rpm and is whisper quiet.

This is my third Honda genny, my first one, a 25 year-old something-850 still runs, second one is a 15 year old EM3500 and until recently was my go-to gen set.

I wasn't aware Honda made a diesel gen set. I was a bit surprised to see portable diesel gen sets appear on the market a few years ago - that's my fuel of choice. BTW, somebody makes an exhaust/ventilation kit for the 7000 to run it in an enclosed space and also a propane conversion kit.

The previous homeowner at my place had a Honda ES6500 generator permanently mounted in the basement. He rigged up a flexible metal hose from the end of the muffler to a hole going outside the house. I moved it outside where generators belong!

So what goes into a Low end "Clean Power Generator?

Here's a three part question:
1. Is the welder pictured in the linked ad one of the ones that you've mentioned? 875 Peak/7 Running Watts, 13 HP (42cc) Generator EPA III with GFCI Outlet Protection

2. Would it be run the sweet little Everlast PowerArc 160 welder that you sold me?

3. Would my welder still be covered under the 5 year warranty if this generator blows it?

I haven't seen any specs on this but I wouldn't especially at the price point it comes in at for the power it has. This is not an inverter gen and likely has pretty 'noisy' signal. Put that with an inexpensive inverter welder and I say you have a recipe for failure. That said, it just might work fine. But I wouldn't risk it if it was my nickel.

I will say it again, if a generator doesn't say it has clean power then 99.99% of the time it isn't. That is a big bragging fact so it isn't something they just "forget" to put into the literature. All of my generator research has found you are not going to have clean power on the cheap, it is going to cost you.
