I agree and you might consider not being too bashful or hesitant to call the dealer and meniton to him that you have noticed it looked used and ask if he will give you some store credit to make up for it..Hey, it never hurts to ask..nothing to lose ..worse he can do is say no.
Done. I have a message with him. We'll see what happens. Thanks
I guess for a ballast box I would not be to worried. If it where some type of rotary product or a disk I would have to say something about that.
True. It's definitely still functional.
I would call him and at least tell him that the weight box looked used. And even though scratches inside will obviously not affect it's use. It isn't right. He will probably suggest a piece offering to make it right. I'm guessing he wants to keep you as a customer. If nothing else, you should be able to get a can of matching touch up paint. That's good stuff to have around from time to time.
I already touched it up.
couldn't agree more with the comments. Makes me mad that when something is presented as new and it is used. Even a minor use. Now if they say it is used even if they quote a new price, then at least it is honest presentation.
It took them over two weeks to "get it". I figured it was on order, but then I learned they got it from another local location.
Igf it's sold as new. and the scratches aren't something that would ahve come from shipping / unpacking.. I'd mention it.. see what happens.

Thanks for the reply.
Was it stored it a gravel lot at the dealers ?
I'm not sure, but it definitely had some crusher run in it.
I think you should have said something about it when you drove around back to pick it up, and saw its condition. that was the time to speak up if it bothered you. Otherwise nothing hurt. JMHO zman
Yeah that's a good point. I didn't mostly because I'm new to tractors and definitely greener than the 790! It's not dented, but the paint was chipped a bit at the top link. I figure they had it in stock and needed it occasionally. Maybe they tried to order one and had trouble getting it? Maybe they figured two weeks was long enough for me to wait and said "just sell him that one." I don't know.
I think I would have to agree with zman. The time to ask/complain was when you picked it up. I know this is not much comfort but who is to say it wasn't used after it arrived at your place. However that being said, if your dealer is a good one, he probably knows if it had been used before and might offer something to keep a customer happy.![]()
Thanks, I'll definitely keep you all posted.
I would take it back and tell the dealer it's not new. Heck, I ordered a radiator from deere and it came in with some fin damaged. I kindly asked for a new, undamaged radiator for my $1000 bucks and got what I wanted.![]()
We'll see. If it was a mechanical part then I think I'd be more aggressive with returning it, but the dealer's reaction will dictate how I order things in the future--and whether or not I do business with them again.
