OK getting smarter by the hour...now see that I made a THREAD and I hope this is a new post. Devouring everything in the safety board that's actually about safety (maybe there should be ANTICS subsection?. Sent a post about retrofitting our little tractor with some basic safety items...read a few things about PTO speeds
BUT we're still looking for that "TRACTORS FOR DUMMIES" thing that says - first turn it on, drive it with the tiller in this and so a position. do or don't have the clutch engaged when you lower the tiller - all the stuff that is SO SO SO simple you don't even think about it - but WE have to!
HERE'S MY POST:
( Hello, BRAND NEW IN EVERY WAY. don't even know how to make a post.
My soon-to-be-60 hubby and I are the proud parents of a new-to-us grey market kubota prob equiv to L245 but not even sure of that. It arrived with a 54 inch rototiller on the back.
GOOD THING! We'd no more how to get something off or on a PTO hitch than we'd know how to fly.
THERE"S GOT TO BE OTHER FOLKS WHO USED TO BE JUST LIKE US OUT THERE....we've dug in the dirt and raised our own food whenever we could. Now we've got 3 acres and time, and ...stars in our eyes... and the courage to try new things!
So - where do we go to learn about PTO speeds, and how to raise and lower the rototiller, and how to know how fast to go when you till...the BABY STEPS???
Actually, please start here. I love my husband. What are the things a brand new beginner might do that could lead to injury or death? THAT'S WHAT I WANT TO KNOW FIRST! I've heard of tractors rolling!
thanks,
carol )
