My thermometer showed -14 degrees this morning. The forecast says below zero lows for about the next week.

Not gonna make 30 today.

Got just enough of the white devil to make the brown stuff where the grass is supposed to be white. The driveway and the road had a dusting, no more. That has all melted now due to the Sun on the blacktop.

Warmer on the hill than it is here. We made it to 9 from -3 this morning.

28 F here now in Branson. Maybe chance of rain showers late tomorrow. Spitting some freezing drizzle up north near Springfield, but we missed any snow or sleet last night. I don't thing we are going to get anything freezing here. We are just 12 miles from the Arkansas border, and just a bit far south. We are expected to have some cold weather, meaning below freezing in the darkness hours and just above freezing for highs for the next few days. Not looking forward to the "cold" weather, but I have seen far worse. Supposed to be in the single digits by next Thursday night. If you believe is long range forecasts, and I don't.

They're talking about 4-8 inches here tonight. The storm should be over by tomorrow though.

Thank you, Lake Michigan. Gives us a nice +15f buffer from the brutal conditions in MN and WI (until it freezes over). Still gets below zero at night here when the breeze isn't blowing (got down to 1° F this morning) but I can't complain. Still got out xc skiing both days this weekend, crispy but bluebird skies!

St. Louis is looking mighty chilly the back half of the week.

Next few days could be extra unpleasant. New generator is not fully ready yet. Have almost no gas on hand for the portable, so a venture out to the fillin' station is in order. And at $2+/gallon, that won't exactly be pleasant either.

Meh, the cold really isn't so bad. Here's the thing about extreme cold (here anyway) : it can really only get below zero when the air isn't moving. So if it's frigid cold, there's almost no extra wind chill. I was outside playing with me kids all weekend when it was between 10 and 16 degrees during the day - bundled up, no problem at all, for hours.

And my house and woodstove don't seem to know the difference, still stays above 70f all night long from a final load of logs at 11pm bedtime. Fresh, beautiful layer of snow this morning - I love winter!

-35F this morning with a 5mph breeze out of the north. Good day to keep the WoodStove stoked and the coffee pot on. Stay warm.

There could be trouble here on Saturday night over to Sunday. They are talking about a high of 13 and a low of -3. That ain't good. The pineapple crop here could be in trouble. Supposed to be freezing drizzle tomorrow, and light snow and other precip crap for a while. So yeah, winter if finally here and here with a vengeance.

Current forecast is a constant 30° +/- a degree of three until sometime Friday (about 72 hours) before the bottom drops out.
