Is there a big difference in cut of the two? Is the 54 that much better on triming around trees?
The difference may be "around" VS "between."
My understanding is that the 60" deck will leave a smaller uncut circle if the tractor is turned in a circle. This would make sense, as the tractor turning radius is independet of the mowing deck, and a mowing deck that sticks our more would cut more on the inside.
A mower that sticks out more also makes it easier to cut close to things, and to keep the tractor wheels farther away from a drop off, like a ditch edge.
I never even considered anything other than a 60" deck for my BX2200.
But that is just me... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Or course if you have a lot of trees with grass in between, that are 55" apart, then maybe the 54" deck would make the best sense for you.
