What are some things a person new to smaller tractors might not even think about being able to do? Some things beyond the obvious stuff?

Not obvious? 'Kay...

Stealing telephone poles that the electric company leaves lying on the side of the road by driving over the top of them, then lifting them up underneath the tractor using the 3pt n' chain to lift the back and and bucket n' chain to lift the front. Brilliant.

PS - just heard the above story from a friend about his long deceased FIL yesterday...

Wow...never thought about moving a building! No buildings for me to move, though. Lots of good ideas, thanks. Always looking for more.

I've done that too...just not on purpose. Took an entire day to put the shed back together...

I may not can add to the list of things you can do with your tractor
but I can sure tell you from personal experience a whole bunch
of things you can't (or even shouldn't) do with one.

Steering brakes are for getting you out of trouble, not into it.
(same goes for 4 wheel drive)

Pooh Bear

So say you. :D I have found that 4WD makes it much easier to bury all 4 wheels. :D Hold the wheel that's slipping and dig the other wheel in. :)

Of course that is all hearsay as I personally have never done anything like that.:):thumbsup:

well i never imagined of drifting with a tractor....anyone here had tried what i am thinking of and if you did please tell me how was you experience~~~cheers~~

I remember attemping to scrape snow off the driveway with a back blade on a 8N Ford and no tire chains. If the blade had more than a wheelbarrow worth of snow it would kick the tractor sideways. Those Fords had a quick automotive style steering. I would be haulin full throttle in road gear going full lock sideways and felt like I was in one of those midget dirt racers.

Carry a fresh killed deer out of the woods, hang it from the FEL, and skin it. Groom a snow run for a sledding for the kids. Pile snow and and create your own mountain. Put up a tree stand. Load gear into your pickup by yourself, that you'd otherwise need help with. Pallet forks in addition to a bucket adds to the versatility of it all.
