Getting Diesel Home

After retiring Im not using my Powerstroke F350 much. Swapped out my 100 gallon tank for a 50 gallon cube ( 2X2X2).
Use it to fill the tractor and excavator. Both use about a gallon every 2-3 hours. If the tank is low I put it in my little Toyota pu on our monthly run to town. Havnt convinced the UPS man to deliver yet.

I fill a 55gal drum in the back of my truck. Then pump it into another in my shed. I have an old agway rotory hand pump for fuel. A 55gal drum is easy to move empty. 55gal lasts me roughly 9-10 months at this point, major porjects are coming to an end though.

Get a years worth of fuel. Diesel with algee treatment should last longer than that. I have a diesel generator so wanted a decent quantity of fuel around. 5gal cans weren't going to cut it.

You can also get a dedicated fuel trailer. That way it can be towed to the station and back and the tank is permanently mounted so there should be no objection from anyone. You'll need to check if ag trailers need to be licensed and how much fuel you can transport. In Texas it's 1,000 gallons and not sure of licensing, but don't think it's needed.

I did a PM on my Generac PTO generator rated at 25KW.
I purchased it in 1999 and have put no more than 20 hours on it.
I removed the brushes so I could check the slip rings.
I touched the slip rings up with a stone then reassembled it and gave it a test with a 9.5 kw load.
Nice thing about a PTO unit is it requires no storage prep other than storage in a dry location.
I found a Oil leak while the engine was under load and turbo boost which made the leak visible.
Easy fix only had to tighten 4 screws.
Enjoy video.

They fill diesel bulk tanks here in pickup beds all of the time, although they are usually metal. The new LS fuel is more susceptible to combustion from static electricity but you can ground your tank to counter it.

GOT IT GROUNDED? Today's ULSD fuel can build fuel system static charge faster than former diesel formulations. Biggest risk is for fuel tanks sitting on truck or trailer bed liners.
