Getting Down to Final

I think I'm finally learning from all these posts and am getting close to deciding on a used tractor. I've looked at Deere, NH, Kubota, Mahindra, Ferguson, Yanmar, Nortrac and few other off brands. Seems like I'm drifting back toward a 2001 JD4300, with 366 hr, R4 tires, hydrostat and a FEL. The dealer wants $14,900 right now though I'm thinking it should include a mower and/or box blade for that money. This is Texas and that's supposed to be about the cheapest place to buy used tractors. I will soon have my new 7acre place complete with a couple of goats and 3 steer. Appreciate your opinions on this deal vs. something like a 2001 Kubota L3710 with hydrostat, R4, FEL and 400hr at same price. Almost feels like price fixing doesn't it?

I don't know much about either the JD or the Kubota. I would buy the one that feels better to me and would also consider where the dealers are located. I wouldn't want to travel 100+ miles for dealer support if I didn't have to. Hope this helps. Gerard

That is an interesting issue. The nearest Kubota dealer has a good reputation and is maybe 15 minutes away. The nearest JD is about 30 minutes and I only have spotty info though it was positive on them. Reading the recent posts regarding Kubota customer service makes me want to go back to the NH dealer and recheck their units as they have a reliable reputation and are only about 15-20 minutes down the road. Unfortunately though they don't have any used units with hydrostatic trans (I want my wife to be comfortable using this machine and she's a bit on the Zsa Zsa of Green Acres side - though she does like to mow). The NH TC33 comparable 4wd, hydro with FEL goes for $18,400 new. I sure would like to get under $13 somehow!! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif :
