Getting Irritated....PTO Shaft Breaking

Re: Assuming too much.....

LOL, I dont think you have to worry about that. For me it was this very kind of thing that pushed me to buy a new tractor Vs a used one. JD was very good about replaceing the shaft. I do have to give the dealer some slack as I'm sure he's entitled to his daily mistakes as well. The important thing is that after you kick the tires a few times you get it figured out in the end. Hope it all goes well. Dave

Sounds like you got it all figured out Russ, Good!
Now the important part. Did the dealer cover the parts
and labor again? Just wondering.

Re: Assuming too much.....

Yes, the dealer will fix it again. Granted, I overlooked something, but so did the dealer. And on top of that, it won't cost him anything really, it's coming from Deere.

Re: Assuming too much.....

I can see me, or some other less experienced tractor owner making this mistake. But the dealer? Who does he hire to set up the tractor and implements? Vagrants?

Re: Assuming too much.....

In defense of the dealer, this is a new model. As far as I know the only one that you have to cut the shaft on.
I could see were it could get overlooked.
The important part is they are fixing it!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: Assuming too much.....

Hambone, not to pick a fine comb but the shaft should be cut to length on many models. It will be different if you use a iMatch or quick hitch. Thats why the shafts come long. Dealer negligence is just that but the important thing is just as you said the dealer is going to fix it. No need to make excuses for them they are just men like the rest of use and prone to errors and just plain old screw ups, but in the end they are the pros....I think /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Dave
