Getting my new to me MF 255 today!

Ok - here are my questions on the levers:

I'm guessing the lever on on the left by my foot is the PTO? I expected it to be a two position thing - on or off. It seems to be in a middle position and can be moved forward from it or backward. Is this in fact the PTO lever or something else?

it is the pto. on mine it is 2 position toward the seat is in towards the front is out.

On the right side, there is a pedal on the floor. What is this?

as answered it is the diff lock

The 3PT lever is easily found. It's the one that does not have the plastic thingy on it unfortunately. The outermost one I believe is the draft control setting. Not sure what the innermost one is.

from the seat. first is for the remote couplers at the rear. it is 3 position with center position off. next is the lift up and down and farthest is the draft.

I have one set of remote on this tractor. I have no clue how to operate them. One of these levers might be for the remote perhaps?. I can't see from the plumbing exactly which it might be.

I'd certainly appreciate any help you can offer.

good luck with your new used tractor. I like my 255:)

Sweet 255!

I assume you figured out the range shifter (short stick) has to be in neutral to start it?

Hmm! I might have just lucked out on this one! Either that or the range shifter switch that prevents the startup is busted on mine :)

I'm not one of those safety nazis that beleive EVERY safety device has to be a fact of life. I'm more inclined to believe a SAFE OPERATOR is the first priority, That said, I would have been a statistic long ago, had it not been for the neutral start switch..... If ypu do find there is a problem with that switch. PLEASE make it a priority to get it working.

Simple fix.

If its like our old 65 forward is "ground speed" the speed is in relation to your travel speed. If I'm not mistaken it will even turn backwards if you run the tractor in reverse and backward is "540rpm" standard PTO speed. I think I'm correct on this, if not someone please jump in and correct me.

The vast majority of 255's will NOT have ground speed pto's. ALL MultiPower 255's will NOT have ground speed pto's....Every MP equipped 255 I've ever been on had independent pto.....

best of luck with your new massey. we had similar in a massey 135. you will get used to it after a while like changing gears, going up & down hill etc.
Have fun.

Nice looking machine! It seems like a good buy for that price!

I like the system for adjusting the wheel width on the rear.
