How sad. Feel your pain. Take a look at other VARIOUS posts trying to get warranties honored, and bad dealers, now apply to the medical system. And yes it is awful. Noones time is important except theirs. Like your womens response. Sometimes it works sometimes it does not. Can always ramp up a response, cannot always back down, but still like her response.

Get cable or satellite. Become a good friend of the library, you have the 'net so send bird pics or any thing that cooks your fancy. Think up new ways to do chores that will accomodate your disability. See how many new tricks you can teach the dog (carry feed pails or such).

Watch out for the ibuprofen, it is a blood thinner.

YOu should see the hoops to jump thru for workers comp!! Set up for lawyers by lawyers and administered by lawyers.

Don't cut corners on the healing. It may drive you crazy but it will pay off in the long run.
If you get bored, get a little bell and put it on the table beside where you rest. Then wait for someone to ask what it is for. :)
Get well soon!

Agree totally with above thread. Also forgot, if you mess around and try and push it you will set up an injury that will not seem as bad as the original but you will have wasted valuable couch time so now you get more.

Do not play any games with people that may have to feed, entertain, or will poke you with sharp objects.

4720, you're right - but with one exception - I had my mom have surgery near you, at the Mayo Clinic, and I swear that place is a training ground for saints. What I learned over last summer is that good medical care is priceless.

good medical care is priceless

And very rare and hard to find. My wife had to go to her medical oncologist for a routine checkup Monday and she didn't want me to go with her because she was afraid of what I might say to him. Her appointment was for 11:15 a.m. and she said they called her from the wating room to take her to an exam room at 12:30 p.m. but she wasn't sure how long then before the doctor showed up. In four and a half years, he has never been earlier than a half hour past the appointment time and usually much later; 2 hours the last visit. I know emergencies can happen, but every time??? Nope. I told her if it were me, I'd find another doctor.

Bird: Back when I had my own business I went to a doctors office for an appointment. He didn't get me into the office at 9:00 but at 11:00. I asked the nurse if he had an emergency and she said no, they were just running late.

When I went in to see the doctor I asked him what his time was worth because mine was worth about $75 per hour, thats how much I could have billed for the time he kept me waiting. He just looked at me strangely.

At the end of the week I sent a bill for $150 to him and kept sending it to him with late charges for the next 6 months. I finally sent a notice that I was sending the bill to collection, he finally called me. We had a lets say "interesting" conversation about how his time was not the only one with value, He's never kept me waiting since.

Thanks all,

I did make it the orthopedic doctor last week. He made some more x-rays and confirmed that it's not broke. I can't remember or pronounce the proper medical term, but he say it was known as a high ankle strain.

I'm not a doctor so please forgive me if I say this wrong but the muscle/tendons have torn away from the bone bringing small pieces of bone with them. He showed me on the X-rays what look like several small dots. He also said that it would have been better if I had broken it. I'm still looking at 6 to 8 weeks.:(

He was a super nice guy and far better than the substitute I was refered to. He took the time to explain things and made a few jokes to lighten the air. He said the water brace that the ER had given me was a joke so he replaced it with a fracture boot. It really looks like something that Darth Vader might wear. It totally incases my leg from the knee down. His nurse showed me how to strap myself into this thing and how to pump it up. It's has a built in air bag that pump up to makes a tight fit around your leg and ankle. It adds support to my ankle and immobilizes it so there's less of a chance that I will reinjuring it until it has time to heel. I told the nurse that at lease it has a cool gismo and she laughed and said that most men don't like it until that find out it has a air pump then their fine with it. "Men and their toys" : It has made getting around a little easier.:D

The doctor also told me that I might be able to shave a few weeks off my time if I would go to Physical Therapy. I wasn't so sure at first, but willing to do anything to get back on my feet I agreed to go (well I was pushed a little) and I must say that it's been a good experience. The people are also really nice and I believe it has help. I also discovered another cool medical toy there. The ice pack from h#$$. They have a special bag that wraps around your ankle. Its plumed with to small plastic hoses that connect to a pump that inflates the bag with what feels like -100 degree water. The guy says it's only -35 degree but it's COLD.

O well..... at least I'm catching up on all the latest medical tools.

I love it! If more people did this then perhaps more doctor offices might start paying attention. I've been in the hospital and medical industry for almost 25 years and I've learned that most of the time it's actually not the doctor who is at fault. It's the front office personnel who do the scheduling. Granted, the doctor typically controls how many patients they feel they can see in a day, but the schedulers overbook knowing that most days there are cancellations. All it takes is one "emergency" or long patient visit and the rest of the day's schedule is screwed. Best to always try to book your appointments as early as possible in the day.

Hope the ankle heals quickly and don't rush the recovery time. You'll be thankful for it later if you don't.

I think that's great, but most people would never consider doing that, or anything else to annoy a doctor they might ever see again, because they don't know what revenge he might take later. I learned that many police officers will never issue a traffic citation to a doctor, or even arrest a doctor for DWI, because they think they might need him some day.

Bird: I had no intension of going thru with the collection agency. We've had a relationship for well over 20 years. I was just making a point and I guess I was successful. This guy is one doctor who isn't full of himself, He tells you his name is Dave, not doctor. He said I don't call you by what you do for a living do I?
