Boston is 'pay to play' area....lol

I run twin 500 bottles myself. Own them both. One of the guys I hunt with owns the propane company I buy from so I always get a good deal. Pays to have influential friends in the propane business.

I added a couple of 500's I found cheap (one was free) tanks few years back more as a fuel storage reserve than actual need. Have a 500 underground that does us for a year, we use around 300 gal or so for hot water, stove and one wall heater on a
sun porch used very seldom.

Never seen prices as cheap as some of you guys.....I paid 1.90 this summer which is typically the low for the year....it will run 2.50 in the winter easy.

As this website shows, it can certainly vary a LOT from State to State:
Residential Propane Weekly Heating Oil and Propane Prices (October - March)

I'd like to know why it's $1.28 in Illinois, and $2.239 in Kentucky, for example.....not like they are a million miles apart.....you could almost throw a rock across the river into Illinois at points.....and given the propane likely comes from Texas, and has to pass by Kentucky to get to Illinois, hard to make an argument for transport costs :D

And while I do understand there has to be an amount for transport, overhead and dealer profit, the current spot price at Mont Belvieu, TX is $0.459/gal......somewhere between that and what I pay seems like a WHOLE BUNCH of potential profit !

Around here you cannot bury them. I don't know what controls the pricing but I do know what the wholesale price is here.

My big heat load is my shop. It's in floor PEX in a 10" thick slab with 6" of foam insulation underneath and 6" in the rat wall but it still takes a bit to keep the slab at 68 degrees in the winter. House is pretty efficient. Plus 90 condensing furnace and a bio fuel stove to help it along.

Bought a used 500 propane gal.propane tank piggybacked it to my other 500 gal. tank.A little repaint and it looks pretty decent.Got tired high $$ refills in the winter.Paid 92 cents a gal. this week to have both tanks filled.Hopefully the 2 tanks together can take us threw the heating season.

Good idea.. I did the same with two hundred gallon tanks, I heat with mostly wood but I do use 150 gallons or so when I'm not here..
