Did you take typing and literacy lessons in Tennessee? Your sentences are really wild to read. Take your beer googles and welding gloves off! :D

I like the visibility of auger placement with the TC. however, in addition to moving forward and backward slightly to keep the hole plum if you are drilling through some frost or hardpack and put too much down pressure the TC will slide to one side. When this happens I lift the auger and reposition the TC. With a SS it is easy to realign without lifting the auger.

It is hard to beat a SS with no cab enclosure for augering holes. My helper won't even use the TC for it. In addition to be a little farther away and off to one side with the TC it is hard to position the machine precisely. Shifting is a pain when you are doing something like that. I agree with one other posters who said the drive should be all pedal driven, push on the front to go ahead and the back to back up. The link to the stanley tamper didn't work? Anybody else have somegood leads on a hydraulic tamper?

Where did you get your hydraulic tamper and what did it cost? I have been thinking of getting one.

You must have weights in the back of your 300 to make it so front light. I have a 763 and a 773. The 763 has no extra back weights but the 773 does. They are removable on mine. I always try to drill holes down hill whenever possible. You wil find that your visibility of the auger and precise placement of it will not be as easy with the TC.

THanks for the info on the tamper if you have it.

I have rear stabilizers on the rear of my S300, probably about another 400 lbs of rear weight. The 300 is very rear end heavy. The 300 is nearly identical in to the 250 except for a few more hp (same engine-75 vs 81 hp) and 600-700 lbs more weight in the rear. I can stack another 1200 lbs of weights onto the stabilizers. I added 100 lbs of front axle weight to help balance the rear. However, my prior 873 didn't have the stabilizers but it also seem light in the front but not as bad as the 300.

The phd and auger may give enough weight to the 773 and 763 and makes it more tolerable.

I use a tamper made by Fairmont hydraulics. I bought it several years ago from a supplier (who is no longer in business) for about $700. I bought it directly from the wholesaler which was why it was significantly cheaper. I can tamp posts in about 30-45 seconds with a helper to hold the post and kick in the dirt. Easier to tamp and can do it better. I typically use a larger bit when using the hydraulic tamper. The larger foot plate works better in a larger hole to tamp around the post compared to my old, trusty 7' steel pipe.
