Ghosts in the Machine- Headlights came on with out any switches being touched

Ok folks it sounds a little creepy but the headlight came on my 2014 CK 30 Halloween eve with out any switches being turned on or any key switched etc. I looked at my security tape footage and saw nothing that may have turned a swith. I first thought maybe a critter may have chewed a wire but there is no indication of that happening also at the switch or under the hood. Is it posssible that the relay could be causing this? With the key off and the headlight switch off the headlight comes on, the headlight goes off when I put the switch to Hi beam. When I turn the ignition key on the headlights work as they should. Any body have anything like this before? I will get the tester out this weekend and check some circuits. Anybody have any idea what the relay post should test? Bad relay on headlights or a bad switch (water getting on it?) or wiring on control side of relay is getting pinched somewhere and allowed to find ground. The control side of the relay is what the switch is tied into.

WGbowes, what Eric is saying here is the spot on. Not a complicated or expensive problem to fix at all.

Some of the Kubota owners had similar and it was moisture in the exposed rocker light switch...

I got a call at my house one evening from the county police telling me the lady that lives across the road from our remote tree farm property called them to report the lights on my tractor were on, it was late at night, and she was worried about me.

I told the county police that was nice, and I appreciate her concerns, but that I had the battery for that tractor in the cab of my pickup truck at my house 9 miles away. Hmmm..... asked them to go out and take a look at it. They called back and said the lights weren't on anymore.

My guess is that someone had taken a battery out there to try and start it. They couldn't drive out there, as the only road is chained and no way around. Maybe an ATV or dirtbike, but most likely a walk in. I didn't see any tire tracks around there.

Or maybe it's just a haunted machine....

or the old lady was nipping the rheumatism medicine!
