I just got rid of a giant hornet/European hornet nest at my house. They made a nest inside my wall. They got in behind my front porch lights. Called an exterminator and he got rid of them, then stuffed some steel wool around the small openings, but there are still some that come up to the house at night from a different nest somewhere that I have not found yet. I think it's in my woods line but not sure. They are attracted to lights, the giant European Hornets will only make nests above ground in trees, bushes or inside walls apparently, they hunt at night, as was told to me by the exterminator. They do not make nests in the ground. The cicada killers do make nests in the ground. The European giant Hornets have distinct yellow and black markings and are highly aggressive whereas the cicada killers have a less distinct blackish markings and are pretty much harmless.
