That vac is exactly what I'm looking for, who makes it?

I think the lady with the gun needs to be the one made into a hero by the media, but that won't be the case. She will get the spotlight for a little while, but not nearly long enough!

Giant Vac used to make them, but don't make this size anymore. If it were electric start, I would probably keep it. However, since it is pull start, my buddy wants me to convert it to a Delco Remy starter-generator, which is something I could do, and he could do better, but I just don't want to tackle. It would simply be a pulley with a square drive center hole, and a pair of brackets to mount the starter generator on. If I used it more, pull starting the motor wouldn't be that bad, but I only used it once a year and that made it a pain.
If your interested in it, send me a PM and I will contact you if this deal doesn't go through. Shipping it would be interesting, but since my Dad lives in Arkansas, I might could drag it that far on a trailer if time isn't too critical.

I'd say he got the better deal. He will be able to do productive work with the Giant Vac. You'll just have to worry that some teenager will steal your new "hunting" rifle and murder half a shopping mall or high school.

Sorry, I just have zero tolerance for these efficient man killing tools in civilian hands. Real hunters don't need 100 round magazines and neither do homeowners or those defending their tractors:eek: .

If you think it's all about hunting...you really are missing the point of firearms.
Anyway, don't blame a tool for the actions of individuals. Do you have such little respect for civilians? I sure hope you aren't in government service...if you are, maybe you need another job.
It's like blaming a tractor when the operator does something careless and gets injured, isn't it?

So, what say this topic goes back to the leaf vacumm and trade?

If David wasn't using the vac and he wanted the rifle (I know zip about Calico), I reckon both parties are happy...right?

I think the main problem with the trade, is it isn't what either of us started out looking for. He had a list of new firearms that he had taken to a dealer friend to see how many of them he would have to sell in order to raise the cash he needs since the house he moved out of to downsize hasn't sold. He owes me a little cash, but I figured on taking it out in aluminum that he has stored here. Since I have been unemployed for six months, I figured I would sell the Giant Vac if my forklift didn't sell, in order to raise extra money for Christmas, since I won't be getting a check until after Christmas from the job I am fixing to start. My prospective buyer on the forklift just declined, so I am probably not going to be selling that before Christmas, and the Giant Vac hasn't been started except once in the last six months, so it will require me working on it (maybe??) in order to get it ready to sell. Turning it over to him was a reasonable deal, but then he decided he wanted me to work on it, which is going to take time, and I don't know how much time I am going to have, with me starting a new job. They just filled the job they hired me to do, while waiting on court to make a decision, so I don't have a clue what job position I am filling, or what hours.

David, does he only want to trade or does he have cash he could pay you for it. If you don't plan on shooting the gun and need the cash I would pass on the deal.

I have no problem collecting guns (we have enough of them as it is) but the Calico doesn't seem like a highly collectable gun to just put away. If you get it, shoot it and have fun.

No cash available. He hasn't worked in over three years, since he sold the shop I worked at for him. He wasn't paid for the shop, and it ended badly, as he is too trusting. Only thing that saved him at all was being a stickler for details.
He had several of the Calico's, and we shot a couple of them down at the farm of a friend. They are alright, but I would rather shoot a Thompson with a hundred round drum, than a Calico. Just a Thompson 100 round drum is worth than a Calico gun, or real close.
I won't sweat trading the gun, and will just put it away. I figure the time will come when buying one of these will be impossible, so maybe my Daughter will at least be able to say her Daddy gave her one, lol! Might be a good idea to keep a couple cases of 9mm handy, just in case times go to the dogs during my lifetime.
As far as money, I will probably be ok, but it would make it easier on me if I was able to sell my forklift. Being able to go back to work in itself is a great Christmas present, and hopefully times will be better in 2008.

Funny, I advised him to buy the gun in the first place. He had a bunch of stocks that kept going to heck and was looking to find something else to put his money in. I suggested guns, and started looking at some that might be a reasonable investment. The upcoming ban on magazines is what caused me to suggest the purchase of the Calico type guns. His taste in firearms has always been the more conventional ones, but I thought a few hi-cap ones might be a good idea. They were, right up till the point of the sunsetting of the the hi-cap ban. He made enough off the sale of various hi-cap stuff to make his money back, so it was still a good thing, but since they can be manufactored again, the value has declined. Had he put the same money in class III weapons as I suggested, the value would still be going up. (By the way, he financed the purchase of my AC-556 at no interest in order to get me to agree to sell another gun to him for a "reasonable price". He never did buy that gun, since he found another one he liked better, and left me alone about the trap gun I have.

The Giant Vac is probably going to be coming back to me, to be sold for the owner as cash is starting to take a priority over picking up his leaves. I told him I would give selling it a shot for him on a few internet boards. Interested parties should email me by placing my user name in front of

Thanks,

I would like to ask the members if they have any clue as to what this lawn vac is worth. Seems the owner and I have completely different opinons of it and I have a couple guys kind of interested in it, but don't want to scare them away with a crazy price.
Anyone know what one of these is worth? Completely operational, with a repair done (before me) to the housing of the impeller. Just a welded on patch, which isn't surprising due to the sand we have around here.
