I was talking to my uncle last night about my grandfather's tractor. I always thought it was something he kluged together but apparently that's just how old Gibsons were made.

He mentioned that they ran a tow behind sickle mower driven by an oak shaft from the back wheel. I'm interested in what that would have looked like. Does anyone have any info on that style of PTO? I'm not sure what it would be called so my search hasn't bore any fruit.

I grew up with a Gibson model D, the only PTO on it was a pair of extra vee belt grooves on the engine pulley.

After watching the video, it looks like the oak shaft attaches to the sickle mower's wheel. That is different than what I imagined but makes more sense. I thought it might have been attached to the outside of the tractor hub, but I couldn't figure how that would work. I really appreciate the link!
