No I have not even been around to start any projects.
I'm thinking about some dolly's for equipment so I can keep stuff in the sides of the barn etc and roll out when needed.

Should be fairly simple stuff - would make a good beginner project.

another question if i may
whats the tecnique for welding thin metal with an arc welder. ive ot a whole lode of metal with holes in it, but no successful ones.

And with regard to thin material, does a stick welder with DC capability help here? I was thinking that maybe with the right polarity you might control the heat differently. I've got a Miller Thunderbolt AC/DC.

Well, it 's not too far off topic, Mith. Besides not paying any attention to what I was doing, I got wedged cuz my blade is for a grown-up tractor, not a baby tractor so, I can't get it very far off the ground so, my next porject is to weld some 6" x 6" x 1/2" ears on the blade frame so I can lower the lift pins. Well ... my next project after kegging last weekend's batch of stout /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
BTW, to contribute to your question directly, I have had very limited success stick welding sheet metal by using 1/16" 6013 rod (very low penetration, high deposition) with as few amps as possible. I was able to stick together a dog pen out of 1-1/4" EMT (thin wall elec. conduit). It looked good and tidy but was a real pain. If you wanna try it you might start with thick sheet metal first ... maybe develop a feel then try thinner.

ive been welding thick stuff previosly
i started to make a bench from scraps from the local collage. i decided to make a sides and back from the sheet suff they weld with the gas kit but seveal holes later i decided i needed advice on how to do it

Mith I used to take a carbon gouging rod or airarc rod and use and use it to melta seperat filler rodintomy seams on real thin metal. Then a sheetmetal work showed me to use AC on the welder and the same carbon rod and a silicon bronze rod. THats how they weld galvanized sheetmetal for ducting. Now I justuse my wirewelders. I still use carbon arc techniques every once in a while though.
