I've just spent the last couple of hours removing the blower and installing the loader on my BX 25 in the middle of a foot and a half of snow in the dark at 5 degrees. I was using the blower on the light powdery snow when the fan stopped turning. The augers are fine. The shear bolt is broken but all the pieces were still in place. But the fan is completely jammed and will not turn even though I disabled the mid pto. I can't see anything stuck in there and I know I didn't hit anything. Really frustrating since the storm is only half over and the worst is still to come. I think this is the final straw for this blower. It just keeps letting me down and with a blower when you need it you need it now. Luckily the loader never fails.

Warm up, get a hot drink, and wait until day light. You will be able to see better then. Meanwhile you've got the loader to bail you out.

Just finished blowing 400' gravel drive on my B2620 with a 2781 front blower. No problems....got to remember to lube the chain before the next storm.......

Hopefully your fan is only jammed with a stick or large stone and you can free it up.

I hope so too, but I couldn't see anything. It's just too dang cold to futz around with it right now. All in all not a good couple of days for the kubota. Took way too long to get the loader on last night due to problems lining up the pins. Turns out there was snow on the pivot points that packed down and made about a quarter of an inch of ice which was just enough to prevent the pins from lining up. I would never have thought that possible until last night. Damaged the cab with the left loader strut because I couldn't see what the heck I was doing. Couldn't get the block heater plugged in last night (frozen?) so it really didn't want to start this morning. Took several tries. Then had some fuel gelling issues which kept stalling the tractor for about 20 minutes even though the fuel was fresh that morning and treated with a double amount of power service. I usually use the 911 product and I'm going to get some of that to add as well. Finally got the driveway clear just in time to rush off to work. Now I have several repairs to make hopefully before the next storm.

Wow that is rough. My blower is flawless- knock on wood

You'll get it! Things get frustrating fast in real cold weather. I sometimes use a hand held propane torch with heavy gloves to get things where I want them, like pins, frozen quick connects, etc. The heat tends to even the playing field at well below zero.
Try some Fluid Film on your chain drive.

Good luck with it....like I said I hope it is a simple fix. Looks like tonight is going to be -20 or so, might not be a good night to work on your rig!

Bob, when my new BX25 and BX2750D were going out to blow snow for the very first time I started off at maybe 2000 rpm. I went about 15 feet and sheared a fan bolt. So I changed it and in doing so I let the old shank drop into the bottom of the shroud. Well, I got back on the tractor, started her up, and engaged the pto. Thunk. The fan stopped dead; it never got spinning. WTF? And now the fan was locked and would not turn. I know how frustrated you can feel about your 2750D. After looking around a bit, I found the old shank jammed between the end of a fan blade and the shroud. So I blew a total of 15 feet and was on my third bolt! In the end I sheared 6 fan bolts that first winter.
This is an awesome snow removal tool. It will move tons of snow; I blew for 2 hours today. You just need to learn its idiosyncrasies and hang in there. A couple of things I did that helped me was to start running at WOT and I made some new skids which actually extend beyond the cutting edge. Since doing these 2 things I have reduced my fan bolt breakage to maybe one a year (1 auger bolt so far this year).
So don't give up on that blower!

Well Dean you are pretty much right on the money, except it's not a piece of the shear bolt. In fact, I'm not too sure what it is, maybe a piece of rock? It's almost the same color as the housing so it's real hard to see. Looks like it's about an eighth inch thick and man is it wedged in there. It's visible from both sides so there is no obvious direction to turn it. I pounded pretty good on the blades trying to get them to turn but no dice. Any suggestions? Here's a picture of what I'm talking about.

As for the other stuff, well I've got the Diesel 911 on board and I managed to get the block heater plugged in so if I need the tractor I should be okay. I do always blow at or near wot and my driveway is paved so no real gravel issues but I think your guide feet are a great idea and I'll try to adopt them before reinstalling the blower. I used a back blade and loader for 10 years on my old BX so I just panicked and went back to what I know. When it works, though it surely will throw snow.

Thanks all for the kind wishes!
