Of course, it is always possible to have one's own issues, still, in light of the current news, it is awfully nice to have one's own eggs. Country life. Self reliant things are possible out here. It's what I enjoy most about Rural Living.

Boy, have new egg customers picked up lately.:D

Man, I wish I had some of those. I turned down a egg sandwich for supper tonight because of the salmonella scare. Ken Sweet

Ive had chickens for the past 3 years... cant remember the last time i bought eggs in the store....

after all the news we specifically looked at egg prices in the store

We talked about putting ours up on CL for $4 a doz.... we normally get $2 but thats what store bought ones were going for!

We get our eggs at our local plumbing contractor/supply. They also have chickens & turkeys, smoked and frozen. Made local in Montana, put the money in the frig and take your products, real cool,. KC

eggs go for $3.75/dozen at the farmers market i sell at. i haven't seen any price increases because of the egg recall.

Yesterday I traded 2 dozen homegrown eggs for 20 frozen perch filets and 2 walleye. I do believe I got the better of that deal.

No. OK, sometimes there are double yolks, but it is reasonably rare.

The color of the egg shell is determined by variety or breed of chicken. The US prefers white egg shells, while Europe tends to favor brown.

There are eggs in-between in color and some even blue and green. The chicken is but a domesticated jungle bird, afterall.
