Glad to own an older Yanmar now

You are a dealer, thus your interest is to keep the higher costs up for us homesteaders. You are not our solution, you are the costly middleman. Ahhhhhhh I only want the parts store counter or online parts places like Rockauto. In tractor sense, that's Fredricks, StevensTractor, Weaver, etc. I don't need a dealer.

Sorry for the wording, I'm not a dealer. Perhaps 'the dealership that I purchased my tractor from is very good and supports their customers' clears things up. Or you could check my profile... nothing to hide there. As I've posted in the other "This Weeks Thread On This Topic", I don't have a 'dog in the fight'. The only computer in my tractor is the digital 'hour' display and the various oil/battery sensors. Were I to have a problem with my tractor that required 'the dealership that I purchased my tractor from' to analyse/repair (Note: I'm a 2 hour, one way, trip from said dealership), then they would support me by sending a mobile repair ute to get me back operating.

Over on the other "This Weeks Thread On This Topic" ('Are you in violation?', I think) are many good point raised. One post in particular says that the diagnostic programmes and 'reader' are available for about US$600+. You'll also need to take two JD on-line courses and a physically-attended one day course in order to operate the diagnostics.

Fredricks is about the same distance from me. If they did send a mobile out, the service call is $250 due to the distance. Since my CUT Yanmar weights about #2800-lbs, my 12x6.4 sq tube wooden deck trailer works well. Calling ahead to make the drive and appointment works wonderful. Did only once during warranty. BUT, when I was there, I was amazed at how well their operation for restoring tractors works. I ended up buying a boxblade and extra parts for the lift arms while down there. :)

AMAZING. It's almost like being an Automotive SAE certified mechanic. Just harder I suppose. Since Yanmar makes things for JD, full tractors, or just engines and such, I can imagine how computer controls are now utilized.

I would agree, for now the 1981 YM2610 tends to be a winner. As for the electrical, I would upgrade from those long glass fuses to the mini-fuses if a compatible box is available. ;)

I'm not sure that's worth the trouble. If it ain't broke ...

Part of my minor renovation in 2003 was replace the impossible-to-find bare microscopic wire fuses (I think similar to early VW) with glass tube fuses, each of the three (?) in its own plastic in-line holder. (mounted across the screw terminals made for the wire fuses). I've never had to touch them since.

If you want to do it right then the elegant solution is the fusebox Hoye sells.

I feel any departure from Yanmar's simple designs should be either so simple that replacements are available everywhere, or else standardized on Hoye etc stuff that everybody else is using. The next person who has to figure out what you did will thank you for this.

 That is my one 'fear' of physically going to my dealership... I always leave with more "needful things" than I intended.

I'm also hopeless at an Agricultural Show. Every year there are more things that I never knew that I needed. Heck some of those things are still in their box; but I've got it!

i have the same type replacement that Hoye sells. I got it off ebay for a few dollars. I haven't put the labels up on the plastic cover yet but there is only 4 fuses.

My tractor is a VN recon and didn't have a single fuse in it. It had small solder wrapped around the screw terminals. I called hoye and had them send me 3 of the thin wire original fuse that they sell for them, but they were not the right length they were like bend up as the space on mine were closer than the spaces that the fuses they sold went in. They worked for like a year. But then I saw on here the HOye kit. I bought the fuse block some one posted off ebay. Its the exact same one that Hoye uses but if you buy it on ebay you just have to supply your own fuses and connectors. But it looks good to me and I can buy the fuses at any gas station if I ever need a replacement.
