Many heartfelt thanks for all your support! Fiddy went in for surgery this morning and came home this afternoon. The vet removed two lipomas located deep beneath the chest muscles (which is why the mass felt so firm) and a large cyst as well. He's camped out in the kitchen where it's cool and the other dogs can't bother him. Looks like he's in pain, but is eating and taking fluids, wagging whenever we come near, and best of all he's cancer-free!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pete, great news! Glad you're all doing well. That looks like quite an incision ol' Glenfiddich has. I guess that'll mean a little extra TLC, eh? Enjoy the new lease on life!

Great News!!!

Pete, I can tell he's glad to be back home.

I'm so happy you found this stuff early enough to successfully treat it. He'll really soak up the extra attention and love now!

That's such great news. I've been thinking about him since you posted. Thanks for letting us know the results.

I hope the other dogs aren't making fun of him being bald.

Great news! I'm sure it is a big relief for you guys. But I'm not sure I'd want your vet bills. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Glad to see that he is doing well. Looks like the Vet earned every penny of what that surgery cost. If he charges by the stitch, then I wouldn't want your bill. My guess is that in a couple of days, he will be up and wandering around looking for a comfortable chair to get into. In two weeks when the stitches come out, the hair will have started to grow back and by spring, you won't even notice it. Great news..... Junk....
PS..... give that dog a steak... he deserves it.... and don't tell me that he is a vegetarian.... I won't believe it.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman -- I actually shared my steak with him last night, and some rice which he seemed to like. Just the two of us on our bellies under the table while the other five dogs circled wondering why they weren't getting treats too! Got some water into him as well, though most of all he seems to want my touch. He's obviously in a lot of pain. When he walks, he crabs sideways and whimpers which is pretty significant because this dog is no wimp.

But he's home and has nothing serious. I'm just glad it wasn't his time!

Cliff -- The other dogs are doing well. They sniffed his incision till I growled softly, then respected the boundary and now lick his face instead. But the weird thing is that Cisco, one of our cats, has been grooming him a lot despite the fact he's forced to cough up huge fur balls afterwards. Cats are so independent I never expected that sort of behavior from one!

Pete,

Wonderful news! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I know you're taking good care of him, because he's always taken good care of you. Give him an extra hug or two from his friends in Wisconsin. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Pete, I read through the forum about the tumor and hoped for the best. As I read this I'm sure that, along with the other folks here, we simply are relieved and happy that your friend and companion is "doing fine!"
