Glenfiddich post-op doing fine!

Great news, Pete. Man, it looks like they took the best rear from another dog and attached it to Fiddy's front. I guess you can now call him "Frankenfiddy." /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Here's to a speedy recovery for your little buddy. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Pete, that's fantastic news!! I haven't stopped thinking about Fiddy since I read your first post!!!

Just one thing, though...why didn't your vet give you pain medication for him? When our mastiff, Mulder, had his two knee operations, we had pain medication for him after each one. And after the first one, he was still in pain, so our vet changed the medication, so that he'd be pain free.

Pete,
He's probably "crabbing" sideways because the stitches have pulled the skin tighter than normal.
He want's your touch because he knows there's comfort there. Getting attention from you is most important to him. He's hurting and your touch makes it go away for now.
I have a cat that would probably act the same way, even though she despises Buddy, my mix breed.

We used the old ibuprofen buried in peanut butter. It works pretty well, though for orthopedic procedures we use the big guns. With all the dogs we take to that vet we probably spend $3k per year. The vet does his best to keep our rescue expenses down. Especially after I suggested he buy a tractor! Between patients he's out there blowing snow with his brand new L3830! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Boondox-

Great to hear that Fiddy is going to be OK. Here's a picture of our substantial beagle after she had similar surgery in July of '03. She's now 9 and is going great. She has another lipoma in her chest that the vet would rather we just live with than try to remove because of its proximity to her heart and lungs. She's reduced her weight considerably since this picture. She also sends Fiddy her best and can relate to how he's feeling right now.

Thanks for keeping us all updated.

Last update as he is obviously doing just fine. Gledfiddich climbed the steps last night to take his rightful place under our bed, and in the morning jumped up on the bed with Tuppence the Wonderpup to demand his morning snuggle. He also gave a warning growl when Tetley tried to muscle into his food bowl.

Looks like we have our little guy back. Funny haircut, but he's back. Again, thanks for all those crossed fingers and paws out there! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
