Global attach hydraulic assist

Once I get hydraulics to the front on the loader (still undecided if going to use 3rd function or from the rear scv's) I would like to make a hydraulic option for quickly switching between bucket and forks. I would like to design it so that I can still manually pull the bar if I need to or am off the tractor. The John deere global system uses something of a J shaped rod that moves about 5" with 2 built in pins that slide through holes on the bottom of the mount on the attachment.

I am thinking if I make either option "a" a sleeve that fits over the rod for the cylinder to push on, but allows the pin to slide through manually or option "b" would be to use a fixed plate attached to the rod, that the cylinder will push up against, but be separate so that the rod could be manually pulled away if necessary.

Question being which would probably cause more trouble: the potential binding of a sleeve on the rod when attached to the end of the cylinder or mounting the cylinder solid enough that the piston will be accurately directed at the plate attached to the rod?

I like option "b". I think having the cylinder mounted solid would be best.

The rod end can push on a fixed bracket anywhere on the latch rod.

I think that is what I am leaning to, especially not knowing what cylinder will be available locally when i get this started. I could make the rod adjustable to move it back and forth to ensure the cylinder would only push it far enough without trying to over extend.
