Global Carrier

Hi Folks, Me again. I have a new H260 with a Global Carrier and I have a peeve about the latch pin. When I pulled the pin, it takes some force. When it releases, it pulls completely out of the far tube housing. I complained to the dealer (New tractor and loader) they said there was nothing they could do about it. I suggested at least for now, a rubber hose and clamp to extend over the pin so that it would readily line up to re-engage.

After some poking around on the internet, I discovered that there are at least two versions of the Global Carrier from John Deere. The one I have and a different one that has a lower linkage bar across the bottom that has a guide for the pin to pass through that keeps the pin from wobbling free when the latch is pulled. Any ideas as to why John Deere stopped producing with the lower brace and why didn't they provide an alternate guide for the latch pin when they removed the lower brace?

Very good questions... Is the Global Carrier on your loader the most current production model? Or do you have the misfortune to own one of the last production models of the "old style"? From your description; it would seem logical that Deere would continue to build the carrier with the full-length bar..

Hello AKfish, I have to tell you that I appreciate the posts on the forum as you provided a lot of insight for me prior to purchase.

I have seen references to the global carrier from the deere sales manual back to 2010 that had the lower bar. I believe I have the newer model in which it would seem deere is cutting cost by leaving the lower bar out of the design as there are probably arguments to its effectiveness anyway as its intent is to help out the operator whom only catches one hook and misses the other on the attachment, however, it does not seem that deere accounted for the guide for the latch pin with removal of the lower bar. My quick fix recommended to the dealer with a short rubber tube is effective but I expect much more from deere given the details in design throughout the rest of the loader and machine.

Mine has that and has partially locked in the past (only going through one hole) just had to give the bucket a few good shakes (like your emptying debris) and it will pop into the second hole for me.

The problem I have is that when you pull it to release, it completly clears the far hole and swings right completly miss aligned and striking the side of the loader bracket when you release. It wount go back in that path unless you help it with a plasma cutter.

Mine doesn't pop out, it looks like they fixed that problem taking your solution.

Corey9212, I am going to take a close look at yours and send picks of mine. Mine has the metal tube as does yours, but the travel of the latch allows for it to clear the tube. Could you do me a favor and pull on your latch looking to find if you have some sort of stopping pin or mechanism that will prevent the latch from traveling farther than the entrance of the tube?

Here is detailed pics of mine opened and closed. There is a washer on both sides of the spring that stops me from pulling it out too far.

You are da man! The dealer left off a bolt! (said there was nothing they could do about it). I am pleased that it wasn't John Deere, as this is a dealer assembled item and deere had indeed not poorly designed it. Look where your washer and spring are stopped by a through bolt on the shaft and look at mine! I am pointing at a bolt hole where yours appears to terminate. That distance will make all the difference in the world!

They could give you the bolt that's missing is what they can do, lol. That's awesome that you got it figured out.
