Glock 43

I like Sigs but the absence of a safety on the Glock in important for this purpose. The 43X and 48 might actually fit my hand better but the concealability of the standard 43 is what I am looking for. I like my Kahr but it is just a little too big to conceal properly.

Any who knows "Sig Sauer" knows that if a Sig has a safety, it's not really a Sig:laughing: One reason why I like the sidearm myself.

I've got a Kahr PM40 that I carried for a few years. Switched to a Sig P938 and I pocket carry that in a DeSantis holster.

And I thought I lived in the wild west.

I carry a Glock 26.5 and sometimes a Glock 17.3 when conditions line up. Carry a 17 magazine to reload both for backup. I thought about a single stack 43.5, but I am big 'nuff to hide even the 17. One of just about the only good reasons to be on the heavy side of the scales... At least, that is my story.

almost everyone has switched to the .40 since the 9mm lacks stopping power. they go through you, and don't expend enough energy in the body that way. I saw a video of a police officer that stopped a truck, and when he was going to be arrested for DWI, he went to his box in the back of his truck, trying to pull out his AK47, the officer shot him 20 times with no effect with his 9mm, he had to shoot him in the head to stop him!!..

Most have switched back to 9mm because they have +P ammo that works well and there are many LEO's that can't take the recoil of the 40 and shoot it well. I like 40 myself but the 9mm is easier to shoot and can hold more rounds.. But 180gr 40 I shoot a lot and like it in a full size service weapon. Have no idea why they can't shoot the 40 in a full size handgun..

That's why I stopped training center of mass and went strictly head shots years ago. Too many idiots up here in the Michigan boonies own vests. If you do miss, buzzing one past his ear will get his attention faster than just missing his elbow.

Read the Ellifritz study, just google it. The FBI has gone back to the 9mm for two main reasons. They did studies of actual shootings over a long period and found that after a certain point the caliber of the gun made little difference in a gunfight with handguns. The two most important things were shot placement and getting two hits on target as quick as possible. Hitting an attacker between the eyes with a 22 short will stop an attack quicker than four hits in the arms and legs with a 44mag. And the slightly reduced recoil of the 9mm allowed the shooter to get that second shot off just a fraction of a second quicker.

In the Ellifritz study he found that except for the "mouse calibers" as he called them, that is the 22LR, 25ACP, and 32ACP/Long there was little difference in the results from 380 up to 44 magnum. This wasn't shooting into gelatin or concrete blocks or water jugs. This was a study of actual shootings involving civilians, police, and military police. Even with the 44 mag it generally took two or more shots to stop an attacker. Handguns just don't have that much 'stopping' ability compared to rifles or shotguns. The one who got shot may die an hour later from their wounds but if determined may do damage to their victims first. Unsurprisingly Ellifritz found that the shotgun was the ultimate man stopper with four stops for every five shots.

If you have to use it, put the shots where they count, then put a second right beside it as quickly as possible.
