Glow Plug Indicator

The glow indicater is has a specific resistance so the glow plugs receive the correct voltage. You don't have the right resistance & may end up burning up the glow plugs. I recommend buying the correct part.

The wire has to be the same dia and lingth. If it is smaller it will heath up to fast. If it is too big It will put to much voltage to the plugs and burn the plugs out. If the piece that was brokeoff was touching the engine that is what could of caused the probblem.......Larry

disconnect the wire to the first glow plug and tape it so it does not touch any metal then try it.if it still glows it could be u have wire problems if nothing happens the problem is the wire may be too thin or the plugs shorted somehow.

Try a paper clip, wind it up on a pencil or whatever leave a slight gap between the turns, ( I'm thinking they are 10.5 volt glow plugs, if not order the correct resistor. check your voltage at the glow plugs with a digital meter when done. It should read 10.5 Volts DC. If voltage is lower, cut off some of the paper clip. If it's a little higher than 10.5, then don't leave them on quite so long. Boy am I going to catch flak for posting this.

I would listen to Lens12 and purchase the correct part. It isn't just about the size and length of the wire, it's about wire composition, resistance and what it's designed to do. If you live in Mexico and don't need your glow plugs, fine, but if you are like the rest of us where they actually are needed, take Lens12 advice and replace it with the proper part.

I purchased a new/used glow plug indicator and still having the same problems. I was careful not to burn the indicator, $30.00, so I turned key to heat plugs, indicator heated way to fast again. I have not checked the voltage along the bar, but for sure I'm getting way to much juice going thru the indicator. I can start the tractor using a block heater, but have to rely on my starter more than I want. I'm not the best when it comes to anything electrical, so any comments would be appreciated.

Have you unhooked both glow plugs & tried the switch to see if you have a short some place?

I'd also like to know what the part number is and where to get it. I am getting 12V to my glow plugs also. On Iseki a TL2300.
