gm buying dodge?

anyone see the news about the talks gm is having with dalmler crysler? A possible merge in the future. gm and dodge are workign together to get a large suv in the dodge lineup maybe a duragahoe? lol. I also read where gm and ford got together to build a new transmission i think its new 6 speed coming out (not allison). I think its kinda funny ford uses allison considering they are partly owned by gm. Whats with toyota in nascar? The new tundra is really going after the 1500 class trucks, I just cant see pulling anything heavy 10,000 with a toy, but they say it will

GM is trying to buy Daimler which is a partner corporation for Mercedes-Benz. They are not trying to merge with Dodge or Chrysler. Although, all the Chevy and Ford trucks are already copying all the designs and technologies from Dodge, so they might as well.

Sorry Derek, GM is in talks to by Chrysler from Daimler. You can read about it here in the USAToday

That's why a bought a Chevy dually, because the Allison 6 speed tranny was a copy of the Dodge automatic and the v comfiguration Duramax is a twin to the inline 6 Cummins. The other thing I liked is that my IFS is just like the solid front axle on the Dodge trucks.

Now if only my Chevy sat a foot higher like the Dodge so I'd need a step ladder to clean the snow from the windshield.

Were you at all serious with this??

I've seen and heard the news. I guess that there are a few car companies looking at the package with Chrysler. I guess there are some foreign companies interested in addition to GM.

What I don't get is why GM, which just posted huge losses and is trying to downsize, is going to gain from buying Chrysler, which just posted losses and is trying to downsize. Seems a bit counterproductive to me.

Back in the 1990's?? Ford had about 7% of cumin's stock which they have long since sold off!

I don't know where anybody gets the idea that Allison copied Mopar on the truck trannies.

allison is a wholly owned subsidiary of General motors.

been around for many,many years.

you see a school bus, garbage truck, tranist bus on the road, chances are it has an Allison Automatic Tranny.

the Allison in the pickups is a version of the A1000 that is used in school buses. dodge just uses a beefed up version of the POS they always used.cant evne compare the two, the Allison is a much more heavy duty tranny.
