The 4wd S-10's might have--The 2wd ones didn't from my experience anyway.

During the 60's some semi trailers came with torsion bar suspension.
It was horribly heavy and in the early 70's I worked for Fruehauf Trailers and we were cutting the complete suspension off and installing leaf spring suspensons.
The boxes were stainless steel making the upgrade worth it.
There were also some with coil springs! We changed them too.
