I would think cold weather or corrosion testing. The chemicals on the roads up here eat Tundra bumpers for lunch.

Northern MN gets more sand than salt. For salt, they should be in a big city where on cold winter nights, a guy can hear the cars dissolve.

In my area, the county roads get a sand/salt mix (75/25?). The state uses 6 tons of salt for every 1 ton of sand.
A good friend gave me a hat that said: "On a quiet night you can hear a Ford rust."

I have that same hat in GM flavor.

Truth is Dodges rust quicker than both combined.

Go to Lowes and look at 10 year old trucks of all brands. They all have a weak spot. Dodges rust the wheel wells and door bottoms. My 03 2500 Ram had rust by 05 while none of my other vehicles had rust by year 7 including Fords, GM's, Toyotas, Nissan, Honda, BMW, ect.

I have to agree with Chris on this one... Dodge wheel wells rot out super bad up here after no time. Its pretty bad. Not that my fords are much better for rockers and doorbottoms.

All trucks rust out above the rear wheel wells were the inner and outer panel come together. Dodges do rust the worst.

The hardware store I go to , I see mostly rusty Fords........I guess it depends on which hardware store you go to.
