I think you will like this one.

Regardless of your political leaning, this is just plain
funny...

Note: This is an exact replication of a National Public
Radio (NPR) interview between a female broadcaster, and US Army General
Reinwald who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military
installation.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Reinwald, what things are you going to teach
these young boys when they visit your base?

GENERAL REINWALD: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery, and
shooting.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting? That's a bit
irresponsible, isn't it?

GENERAL REINWALD: Don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle
range.

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous
activity to be teaching children?

GENERAL REINWALD: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle
discipline before they even touch a firearm

FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers.

GENERAL REINWALD: Well, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not
one, are you?

The radio went silent and the interview ended.

I gotta remember that one! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Problem is, a lot of these yeahoo's are equating TOUCHING a gun with being an instant killer. If we just make one more law, we'll all be safe in our homes...

Last year I heard about 2 people in Florida who were assaulted (in separate incidents) with fish--one salmon and one mackeral as I recall. Got into arguments with signifcant others in the meat department of the supermarket and got wacked about the head and shoulders when somebody grabbed a fish that was left negligently laying around.

Maybe somebody should look into it. Require special licensing, fingerprinting, background checks before issuing fishing licenses. Maybe supermarkets should be required to keep these dangerous weapons in locked safes. 3 day waiting period? "The right to keep and bear fish shall not be abridged."

The thing to remember here is the women's lobby seems to be the driving force behind a lot of the antigun movement. At least here in Michgan, where they are fighting our newly won "Right to Carry" law. The best thing to do appears to be to teach your significant other, daughters and every other female you come in contact with how to shoot and handle guns. Let them see that it's just a tool like any other and not something that will instantly turn anyone touching it into a ravening, bloodthirsty, slobbering wacko.

Great comeback, made me smile. It also sounded a bit too good to be true. I don't see how liberal NPR would ever let something like this on the air, so I checked out one of my favorite sites, Snopes2.com. See:

http://www.snopes2.com/humor/jokes/reinwald.htm.

These urban legends really make the rounds on the Internet.

I think most NPR stories are recorded, so yea, It would never hit the air. But what makes this story so beleaveable is that we have come to expect such idiocy from the media. Just yesterday on a national newscast a story was featured that was being billed as " How to protect yourself from mad cow desease this 4th of July" If there has been one single case of mad cow in the US, would someone please let me know. Because I've never heard of it.
If you ask me, Edward R. Murrow, and Ernie Pyle arn't just rolling over in their graves. Thier spinning like tops.

guns. Let them see that it's just a tool like any other and not something that will instantly turn anyone touching it into a ravening, bloodthirsty, slobbering wacko.

You mean that didn't do it and I have to find another cause?

Sounds a bit like the one where the guy asks the woman if she would go to bed with him for 100 million dollars and is told yes. Then he asks if she would do it for $5 and the woman gets all indignant, really upset and says, "What do you think I am a prostitute?" He says, "your answer to my first question established that, now we are just negotiating price."

Urban legend? Urban LEGEND! Aw, man! I been had again! That Snopes website is pretty cool. Did you get down a few pages and see the one about the DNR fining beavers for building a dam? Typical bureauracy.

No, it wasn't the guns. It was the Trout. Not supposed to actually EAT them. (They're full of mecury and other toxins). You're just supposed to HIT people with them. But only if you have a carry permit! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
