Going downhill with a Kubota L4400 HST Video

I made a couple of poor quality tractor videos of using my tractor while I was hauling firewood back to the wood lot. I had my old camera and decided to video a trip downhill and then another back uphill. Really, I think that hill is steeper than it appears to be on the video. I don't believe I would have nerve to come down it with a full load of wood.

Wow, I think I'd have a major pucker factor. You get a a gold star for taking it easy.

Thats jack the dog(he is very smart and hard headed) and he is always with me when I am on the tractor. I had a chain around the wood that keeps it on the carry all.

R1's or R4's on that beast? I've got a few slopes like that but I don't drive my tractor on them, but you've got no choice to but to follow the ridge line up.

If any ground ever gave way that would be a scary situation. That is a nice chunk of property, how many acres is it.

R1's or R4's on that beast? I've got a few slopes like that but I don't drive my tractor on them, but you've got no choice to but to follow the ridge line up.

R1 tires. I could have had the R4 tires for no more money but I need all of the traction I can get. I use chains in the winter and it has to be dry or frozen. Every thing here is either up or down with a few in between areas that we consider flat.

You are right you have to be careful and stay away from the edge. The narrow trail at the beginning of first hill in the going up video has been an established trail for 40 years that I know of and appears to be rock based. There is 80 acres that I co own with my brother.

The videos are just to the top of the hill it would bore you to death driving out the ridge but it is the only way to get there. I leave it in 4WD all the time. Even my BX1500 stays in 4WD. I use to have a 2WD and I kept chains on it all the time and could not go half the places that the L4400 will go.:thumbsup:

Yep same here, only in 2wd on the flatter pieces of pavement. made the mistake "once" of going down a hill with a load of gravel in 2wd and had a "runaway" when the rear tires started to slip and then lost traction..I learned better real quick

I have a couple hills nearly that steep but no where near as long. I still get a little nervous traveling them. You sir have ba**s that clang to drive up those hills. I got queasy just watching the up hill video.

Well, I'm not watching the going up video again. I was all clenched up and getting "pucker factor", and I wasn't even really there!!
