This is a post of a news story I thought the forum would enjoy.

A coupe? Too common. A sedan? Too sedate. A limousine? Too lackluster.
Tyler Webster didn't want to take his prom date in the family car or any old rental.
The western Pennsylvania high school student and his date, Becky Krusey, cruised to West Middlesex High School's prom in a brand new, shiny red Massey Ferguson tractor he borrowed from his boss at farming implement dealership.
The couple turned heads in their ten-foot-tall, five-ton ride as they made their way down the road to a hotel in Shenango Township yesterday.
Webster's choice wasn't for speed -- the tractor tops out at 26 miles-per-hour -- or for luxury, although it has a built-in cooler, air conditioning and radio. The couple apparently has a unique sense of style.
The couple showed up to another formal dance in flannel shirts and cowboy boots.
Keeping with the tractor theme, Webster wore a Massey Ferguson baseball cap and a tractor pin in his boutonniere. Krusey wore a pale yellow dress and carried a bouquet of flowers with a red model tractor attached.

We read about it and talk about it. Some people live it.

To each their own.

That happens in our area almost every year. Infact it was about two years ago that a couple at my church got married and drove away in a New Holland Combine.

We were at the Grand Central Mall in Parkersburg, West Virginia two weekends ago, and it happened to be prom night. There were several couples eating at the food court in the mall, and then each couple paraded a few laps around the mall, arm in arm before leaving to go to the prom.

Is this a new thing? A "pre-prom" event? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

We didn't see any tractors at the mall though... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Ah memories. My buddies and I had "tractor day" waaay back in high school. On a rainy spring day (about the only time we could "borrow" a tractor during the planting season) all the guys would drive their tractors to school. The principle didn't care for it, but really couldn't tell us no. It was a hoot!

Sounds like fun.

I've been thinking of getting a pair of black leather overalls and having a JD Green and Yellow leather ball cap made, as a fashion statement.

Wow, those were some big spenders. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll bet the Massey had a higher price tag, than any of the autos used to ferry kids to the prom. Its kinda like the bumper sticker that says "my other vehicle is a million dollar combine".
