I would try to build it around what is considered "standard" so if you ever need to replace the engine, it will be easier to find a replacement.

I received the plans today. They are extremely detailed and well thought out.

This is the unit I am going to build. I've already ordered most of the essential parts that I won't be able to make myself.

I am using a Harbor Freight 13hp. motor with 19 inch wheels. Should be able to handle 30 inch logs.

Thanks guys. That makes my second thought spot on. I was just remembering how to fold them up for storage, which twist them inside each other loop.

A grain truck frame makes a great strong/stable "bed" and will save lots of time in construction. That is what I used when I built my band mill.
