5030, thanks for your response. I have a lot of wood and was thinking about chipping them. As a matter of fact, I bought a small bag of Apple wood chips at the grocery, $3. Small bag but I was wondering what they are worth. I may chip them, the new package them in bags--- netting, plastic, or paper ---and advertise locally. Maybe even leave some in a small building, kinda honor system like I still see in Vermont.
Other than that, went to an accountant the other day. She and I will meet again Monday to finalize, but having the orchard helps. I really did not intend to deduct expenses, but whenever I tell someone it is an orchard, they say lots of deductions should be considered.
I also have 25 acres up north in Maine, and may plant some trees there. I do know this, it is the right pace for me--- enough to keep busy and I can stop when I like, but not a perpetual hurry up pace (been there, done that like most of us do) I just received my books from the university extension center for obtaining my pesticide applicator license. I'm going to keep a go at it for the next few years anyway.
