Yes, Sir --- that's a real Hoe!

I'm gonna guess that you might be able to buy 5-6 of those $30K machines for that one 46,000 lb machine...

And not much change . I was fortunate to have goods trades so i only had to find $22,000 . I'm now looking at a 8.5 ton Yuchai with blade , steel tracks and rubber road pads . I'll see what kind of deal they can come up with .

There is a used CAT mini hoe right around the corner from me on this huge horse farm. Been for sale for over a year. Was originally asking 20k for it, but the other day I say the price is now, 15,900 or BO. I don't know anything about it but it looks to be in good condition. The horse farm I can tell you doesn't skimp on the their equipment if the big barns and the M105/M125X Kubota's they have setting around are any clue. It's a cab model is all I know. Intrested?

What I'm thinking about doing is selling my 580 SuperM for ~$55,000. Then I figure I could get a used Kubota, Case, etc. 70HP 4x4 utility tractor with a FEL & landscape rake for ~$25,000 and spend $25-30,000 for a nice used mini ex.

I can excavate most of my work with the mini ex and load dirt/clean up the jobsite with the utility tractor.

What's wrong with the backhoe? Is it too big for digging foundations and tight corners?

No, it's more than enough machine and it does everything I want. I would like the util. tractor b/c I have an opportunity to mow some large right of ways & fields and maintain some farm property. I was thinking about a 11' or 15' batwing mower for it. The other thing is I need a 6-7' landscape rake for finishing work.

The mini ex could be transported by my pickup or my dump whereas the backhoe must be transported by my dump. Plus it's much easier on lawns and more manueverable.

Looks like my backhoe is worth as much as the 2 used machines I'm looking at. I got great financing on the CASE, so I actually stand a chance to make some money off the deal.

A 3.5 ton excavator will run rings around a backhoe . They run around like rock spiders and can fit in tight places . It's a simple matter of pulling the track levers for a few seconds to move them and resume digging whereas to do the same with a backhoe you need to lift the legs , put your arm away , spin your seat around , lift the bucket , move the machine and then do the reverse to set it up again to resume . It's an idea who's time came long ago . I had a New Holland LB115 equal wheeled backhoe which is a fair hunk of machinery and my mini makes it look like a slug .
