Montana Limited 300DTC
Hi everyone - I just sold my Deere 790 in hopes of upgrading to something with a bit more lift capacity. Specifically something that will lift 1,100 - 1,200 lb round bales. Figured I'd have to find something used and a bit older to be able to afford it. I came across this deal locally here. It is the Montana Limited, which I understand is a re-badged Farmtrac (thanks to this site!), 300dtc model with 5140M FEL. I looked at it tonight after work. I must say - I was impressed with some of the standard features that it comes with compared to my old 790. It is in my price range which I will list below and being brand new and being under warranty makes this deal a no-brainer basically. The warranty is 1 year full unit and 3 years powertrain on this machine. He just picked it up about a week ago. Even said he'd deliver it to my property free of charge.

Here are the specs of the deal:

Montana Limited 300DTC with 5140 Loader and rim guard in rear tires:

$15,800 before tax.

Can anyone tell me about the Rim Guard? The brochure has a website at: Rim Guard - Liquid Tire Ballast. I know it's non-corrosive and he told me it would add approx. 1,000 lbs to the rear of the tractor.

Also, since I want to be able to lift round bales, he also has for sale an Aldomi DT Series hay spear. Info at: DT Series Hay Spear.
The DT series he orders with the fork eyes so that I can add Forks or a Grapple later on down the road. The price is $660 for this. Is this is a good deal or are there better deals someone can point me to instead?

Should I pull the trigger????????? :D

Probably so. Make sure the dealer is giving you the rebates from Montana if any on that model

I just picked up a 675 DTC. Montana was offering $2000 off, plus 48 months 0% came out to be $17,500 no Tax.

I couldn't go buy a used tractor cheaper after four or five years of interest from a bank.

So far I like the tractor. seems like a lot of tractor for the money. Soon as the rain and snow stops I going to hook it to my ford 4-bottom plow and see what it will do.

Here in Missouri, when I bought my montana, I just had to tell the dealer that it was for farm use and He didn't charge sales tax on the purchase. Filled out a form at the dealer.

Well - I don't really have a farm. I just have a small acreage with some horses. So guess I'm stuck paying tax. I do get a lower tax rate though since I live outside of the city limits. Helps a little bit I guess.

Moving forward towards purchase - sent in the credit application all filled out. We'll see what happens - I'll keep it updated.

I just don't know about the bale spear. It seems like a solid product and I do like that I could upgrade the unit down the road by just purchasing the forks. Can't find anything else and don't want to get something cheap and non-quality.

I bought a Farmtrac 360 DTC with a FEL new in 2007 for 16,675 out the door with no tax after I shopped around and felt like that was a good price, I have since put about 200 hrs on it and it has never been back to the shop, which is a good thing as there is no dealers left in my area, so when something goes wrong I don't know what I will do for parts, it is an LS made machine and I keep hoping that someone locally will pick up that brand so I could get parts and some support if needed, as far as the tractor itself goes I don't think I could have got anymore tractor for the money as it came standard with most things that others call options, no other brand was even in the ballpark as far as price goes.
