I have a chance to purchase a 2006 Ranger 700 XP with 60 miles for $8000. Is this a good deal? I've attached a photo.

Thanks,
Doug

I think that is a very, very good price! Looks like it is a Limited Edition XP model with the special seat, aluminum wheels, paint. The soft cab is an extra. At only 60 odometer miles it sounds like a dealer demo.

As comparison, just this week I ordered a new 2008 XP 700 Limited Edition equipped with multi-point Warn winch; sport top and half winshield, front brush guard with headlight guards. The MSRP on this LE model (without extra equipment) is $10,999, and as equipped totals $12,110.

About the only thing you may not be getting on your 2006 model is the factory warranty and perhaps the instrumentation package that I think was added as standard in 2007.

I say "buy it, enjoy it!"

With today's market you can do better.

Offer 20% less and see what happens. For me it's not enough of a discount for a year old used product, without a warranty, plus even with low miles, you don't know if someone rode it hard, and put it away wet.

if you have the 8k cash and your not gonna be paying any sales tax on it and finance mombo jumbo i would look it over real good take it for a ride like about 30/45 minute ride that way things heatup good and if it runs good for the ride and you don't see any il leaks then i would go for it because it you was to get a new one by the time they add in the mumbo jumbo stuff you would be paying close to 10k for that machine new(if you finance it) you can always go to a place and see if they will sell you a extended warranty for it the way it looks they might and they might not. and then again did you check with the owner to see if they got the extended warranty when they bought it because they might have bought it and that ranger just might have one. but as for as the 8k there is a guy by my house who sells his rangers after two years and he sells them for 7500/8000 and they are the 500's not the 700's. another thing to check is did this guy keep a record of his oil changes and stuff.

now to the bad stuff if i'm not wronge i think the 06 700's had a heat shield problem and they were melting the seats and getting hot so thats another thing to check into. go to this web site and ask a few questions about the 06's and see what you come up with do a bit of reading in the problems section to before you jump the gun. http://www.prcforum.com/

Nope, they ad fixed the problem in 06, mine is an 06 and no problems. It was the earlier model XPs. The 07 XPs and up have a speedometer and a 50 MPH top speed compared the 06's 44 MPH top end.
