Ok, I have a question? I just paid my M5040 off this week and had the bottom of radiator crack at 235 hrs a month ago:mad:. Anyhow, I'm trying to get a "goodwill" warranty coverage because the tractor was 2yrs, 11 mths.

My question is: since it was finaced with Kubota and it was covered with insurance.... could my $400 radiator I purchased be reduced to $250?

If you have the Kubota insurance and you paid your last payment this week you should still have insurance for another month. If it cracked a month ago then you had insurance then. File your claim and after you pay the $250 deductable the insurance should pay the balance. Do it as soon as possible.
Tell your outcome and let us all know how good the insurance is. Indications are that you can continue the insurance even though you've paid off the machine. If you haven't gotten a notice that your coverage has ended, you should still have coverage.

Wouldn't it depend on what caused the crack, an accident or just ware and tear? If it was a sudden, accidental impact with some object, I would think it's covered, but if it was due to a manufacturing defect that only showed up now, I wouldn't think the insurance would cover it - maybe a goodwill warranty claim. Now, that's not to say Kubota Insurance wouldn't cover it since they seem pretty lenient on claims, but insurance is suppose to cover accidental damages. At least that's my understanding.

At 235 hrs and less than 3 years old...I don't think a radiator cracking is a wear issue. (Should I have ran it into a tree limb?)

I just called my dealer (whom I have not been impressed with) and he advised that Kubota is prohibitted from seller any kind of "extended warranty" policies in Florida. ( I don't understand that, because everyone offers them to on everything else) I referred to it as KTAC and he said he didn't know what I was talking about. I had it finaced thru Kubota using thier no intrest finacing and my payment had insurance included because the payment was more than the principle.

I'll be call the Georgia rep and maybe he will be more helpful....

Agree that it may be a mfg defect. Anyway, you can call KATC directly if your dealer is no help.

Add another example to have KTAC insurance... BTW, my dealer has been useless (Gulf Coast Tractor in Land O Lakes).

So I left my info on the KTAC website and got a call back from a VERY helpful person within minutes. She explains the insurance, which also includes round trip transportation as a benefit. Anyways, they agree the plastic cap on a Kubota radiator should not crack at less than 3 yrs old. She advised that something must have stressed it (pot hole, unkown object, etc) and that the damage would be covered by the insurance policy I had during my Kubota financing (THANK YOU). So my $400 radiator is a $250 deductable...had my dealer been more helpful when I was expressing my frustration with the service manager and warranty claims employee, I could have had my tractor picked up and returned after the dealer did the work for the same $250, instead I did the labor.

The scary thing is I currently have no insurance since paying the tractor off (Oct. 30th)...but that is fixed now.( it was $180 a/yr for a M5040 including the loader)

So I called my dealer back to share with him my 4 weeks of frustration and how UNhelpful his staff had been. (Thank you for TractorByNet). He explained he was correct in Kubota not offering any extended warranty policies and how the broken radiator might have been a "goodwill" gesture by the insurance company since there wasn't any other damage. I fired back and told him NO ONE went out of thier way to suggest options or mentioned KTAC. He replied, "We don't make any money off selling KTAC, but Kubota requires it for loans"

There is another dealer about the same distance away. If I ever need the tractor repaired it will be going to that dealer.

The only person happier now might be my wife :D. The KTAC employee knew of the TactorByNet site and commented that it as been a great source of referrals (unlike many of it's dealers).

We don't cover mechanical wear and tear but if you hit something then we can help. If so, give us a call at 800-348-5802. We are happy to help if we can!

JOHNTHOMAS - I don't want to get into the homeowner vs. KTAC argument because there really isn't one. Coming from someone with a lot of experience handling insurance claims, a HO policy, regardless of state, usually does not meet your financial requirement (usually does not have off property, in transit, or accidental damage) and the deductible is usually $1k to 1% of the value of your home. You may have a very rare exceptional policy if you have all-risk coverage and a deductible of $250 or less.

In saying this, I agree with you... every person has the right to make their own choice and I encourage everyone to look at the facts before making that decision.

Good deal. His KTAC insurance saved him $150 and his premium for next year is only $180.
Glad he was ablt to track down his insurer to help him with his claim.
One of the reasons lots of people like to buy their insurance local so they can look their agent in the eye.
