O.k. A little side story about this that just makes you say Hmmm???
I talked to Keith this morning. He is the third miner that luckily left the pit to get another piece of equipment just before the wall fell. He is also my buddys who is buried son in law. He said they showed up for work that morning and there was a large crack in the highwall. They called the Bureau of mines to come look at it. The inspector came and looked and he said "It was fine" !! 2 hours later and two men are now most likely dead...
This is not good and I'm sure this will get really ugly. But, as always in the coal business, it is all about money and if the pit is closed because of the crack in the high wall no one makes any money.
Thanks for the link bird. Sorry for the rant earlier, it is just VERY frustrating. BTW, 2,000 ton of material is not a whole lot when you consider the machines they have at their disposal. Since posting that I have heard from a friend that was working there last night that they were moving 20 YUKs an hour. Which is about 6,000 ton an hour !! Now that is some progress...
