good morning all
took me a while to catch up this morning but I got up early (now 5am) and enjoying my coffee sitting in RNG's driveway. I not only have a parking spot but I have complete privacy here. Sure not putting out the slide...
what a day yesterday. Not a bad drive down here, the parts through Salinas were just awesome looking at all that machinery and big ag going on. Fields of lettuce as far as you could see. Areas of a dozen cars and 50-100 farm workers out in fields.
fields were either covered in plastic, huge fields, never seen so much plastic, or bright green for I think lettuce and darker green for something else. Or being picked.
This is John Deere territory, exclusively in the beginning but I then saw some blue in there, some larger New Holland, a few faded Kubotas and several tracked Challengers.
and then the veggies left and i saw nothing but huge fields of grapes. You think they'll be up on some bucolic mountain side but these were huge fields of grapes right up the highway. Reminds me of orange groves in Florida. I wonder if the car exhaust gives the
wine a certain extra flavor...
RNG is my West Coast HERO. He worked hard for three hours carefully taking apart the old transfer switch and installing the new one, this time using proper crimp connectors. Looked and worked great when he was done.
actually he didn't spend three hours on it, first hour he had to nursemaid me, rightfully, while I was changing rv motor oil on his pristine concrete driveway.
And I was doing so well, squeezed my gut under the frame, plug was way back there and got the oil drained without making a mess.
but then came the oil filter. Oh the oil filter, slippery devil as it was, slipped right out of my hands and started rolling down the driveway of course leaking oil all the way.
oh no.

The one thing I didn't want to do, but I'm sure RNG will get some chemical on it soon. When we put the new one on, wrapped it in paper towel and that worked fine.
and then RNG made a delicious smoked ribs dinner that fell off the bone and were just yummy. an ice cold Mexican beer to accompany that and it was a fine night.
which of course did not last long, I was asleep within 30 seconds at 8pm.
that was a long but good day, just only so much energy.
and you all will be thrilled to know RNG first built a proper prop rod for the bed.
as I enjoyed my delicious dinner, my gaze was on this gorgeous yellow bike nearby, he has a few here and there...
in a little bit I'll head over with a full cup of coffee and I believe some eggs for breakfast. All is very well here in Orcutt CA.
