I have about 10 acres of land, with the "front 4 acres" being used by a local farmer. He gets to cut and keep the hay, and I get a nice cut field.

Last fall he applied lots of manure. This week, when he cut the hay, he got 42 large round bales from the 4 acres - just over 10 bales per acre. He was very pleased, as an average year he says he get 7 or 8, and a poor year 3 or 4 bales per acre. So he was happy with 10+!:)

Did you mention the smell of fresh cut hay?:thumbsup:

Those are nice bales. Too big for manual labour!:D

Looks like second cut possibly.
Little TLC has good rewards. :)

That makes me groan, Lloyd! The guy that cuts my front field has 840 acres that he cuts - he has a large cattle ranch with cattle spread out on fields throughout the country, so he needs lots of feed!

I am groaning now. First 5 minutes into it I pulled a muscle in my back. Continued working for the next 3.5 hours. Could hardly get out of bed this morning and feel like a fool. This set back I did not need this week! Oh well hay is in. Wife is happy. Farmer is happy. I am trying to be happy!

Great looking hay though! Love the smell and the work. Just hope my friend down the road doesn't call me - last year we loaded 1600+/- square bales into his barn!

Sore Back eh! We could both go down to the river pub, watch the fountain and commiserate.

Take it easy for a while so it gets better.
