Good small torch for heating stuck bolts

Last time I broke off a frozen bleeder screw in a caliper I was able to use the MIG to tack a little bit of metal onto the broken screw.

Propane torch and screw extractor wouldn't touch it ... came right out after I goobered a little bead on it with the welder.

Lots of cool tools out there that I would love to have. But I am in the process of downsizing somewhat. Hard to fight the pack rat and tool junky urges. I would rather collect brass, lead and tools more than the ‘normal’ items.

My goal is to move in the next few years, plus other personal reasons for downsizing.

My dad just passed and I am having a hard putting aside his tools to sell off, but I just don’t have the room or need right now.

I am so thankful the old bugger spent the last few years downsizing and organizing himself, one of the best things he could have done, because as he always joked it’s my problem now.

If only I can convince myself that if I haven’t borrowed it from him in the last 10 years I really don’t need it.
Too bad I am going to lose that battle, I am already figuring out how I can stack a decent miter saw/stand over the table saw with the hand held tools underneath. And I need to keep it easy to access so it can be useable, not just a pile of junk.
My garage frige is going to have to go.

Then another pop up tent to actually work in.
And I really want a mig welder to play with.
And a lathe.
And the casting/reloading area is going to get refined.
It wouldn’t be so bad if it wasn’t for the kids stuff. I hate scooters, bikes not so much.

Hi, my name is Matt and I am a tool junky.

My one car garage is going to be full, not that it isn’t already.

MAPP burns hotter than propane, but not as hot as acetylene. I think they reformulated MAPP gas a few years back, probably to avoid killing the ozone layer or something. New formulations are still better than propane, but not as hot as they use to be.

Discontinued in 2008 apparently, it sounds like due to lower demand.

For rusted nuts I use a Forney carbon arc torch. Things were a mainstay on farms. Low current, lightly clamp the carbons to the nut, seconds later, easy removal. Very localized heat.
