good trade?

i have a JD l130 lawn tractor with 335 hrs on the meter
48" and my buddys dad just bought him a cub cadet zero turn mower 50" with 130 hrs and he cant get the hang of it so he said he would trade his cub cadet 50" zrt for my jd l130 and me pay $300 to boot
would this be a good trade?
im cutting about 2 1/2 acres once a week...........mostly flat some small slopes

Welcome to TBN Nate!!

From looking at the prices, it's about even. Just remember, the zrt will only cut grass and can be somewhat dangerous on wet slopes(without chains). If they get loose, all you have is one axle working...No steering..You'll get the hang of that though.

If you're only cutting grass with it, you'll probably like it. People I know with homowner zt's love them. In fact my brother bought one from Home Depot a couple of years ago, and he couldn't be happier.
Can't speak to the durability. I've had some not so great luck with Cubs in recent years. Maybe I just got bad ones.

I am not sure if it is a good trade, but make sure you take a good look at the zero turn mower and what model that it is. I looked at a Cub Cadet RZT and was not impressed with the lightweight construction of the deck etc. It sells for about $3000 at Home Depot. I am used to commercial grade mowers from when I used to work in landscaping, and I was envisioning me bending up the lightweight deck on my rough lawn. I also mow a few acres, and I opted to get a used commercial zero turn for $3000 since I could not spend $8000 for a new one.
