Goodbye to a wonderful cat

   / Goodbye to a wonderful cat #11
My heart goes out to you Pete. Our pets are just about the central focus in our lives and losing one brings unimaginable pain. Their lives seem to go by so quickly. All we can do is bask in the resolve that we made their lives wonderful.

Sorry to hear about Miles.
We lost our 16-year-old dog back in March. Still keep looking for her even today.
Our sympathies to you and your family.

Pete,

My deepest simpathies to you and your family. My wife and I adopted a cat in January 2001 and she has become the central figure in our lives. For us our pets are our children. I have pictures in my PDA (Palm) and pictures on my desk. We are moving to a new house this fall and sometime early next year will look to add a new member for her to have some company.

She was a stray the SPCA had with a litter of kittens. The little ones went quick and she was left behind. She longs for some companionship (when we aren't home). The loss of a member of the family (pet or person) is hard. You are a dear and kind person for being there for Miles. We plan to have a small cemetary at our property for those who are gone but never forgotten. We even give them birthdays (the day of adoption) so we can celebrate their day.

Good luck and god bless.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

I know it's hard to think about it now, but I'll betcha there's a little kitten out there somewhere that could sure use a good home.....

Miles slipped away this afternoon while Corm and his wife were here for a visit. We buried him among the ferns next to Microsoft Cat. Through the burial Molson, my 10 year old Alpha male golden retriever, peered into the grave and afterwards, for a LONG time, he lay down on top of where Miles was buried. The other three goldens just sniffed their cat buddy and wimpered a little, but Molson seems really out of sorts.

Thanks for all your kind thoughts and words. You hear so much talk of cats being disposable that your responses surprised and gratified Tamara and me. Thanks again.

Pete, I was not a big cat lover...until we got one, my first, an impish, black male cat. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Now I don't know what I'd choose, a cat or a dog, if I was forced to. Actually, like you, we didn't have to choose, we have 3 dogs and 4 cats, in addition to the 3 horses. Cats and dogs are indeed unique animals, and we miss them just the same when they are gone and, as you have pointed out, they miss each other when one of them passes away. You, your wife and your dogs and cats have my deepest sympathies.

Pete, I know the feeling and you certainly have my sympathy. I'm afraid I have the wrong attitude, but the heartache when you lose an animal like that is one reason I don't have a cat, and only have one dog.

Sorry to hear about your cat Pete. We found a kitten in the road up here and to make a long story short. I brought it home, named it Lost and Found, and we got it all healthy. I'll never forget the first Christmas and the cat in the tree. It grew to be a big cat and preferred the outdoors. What a mouser!!!! Then one day he didn't come back from the hunt. We really missed him but especially my son. The cat would come to the door every morning for a patting and then go on his way laying around the garage.
Take care!!!

Pete,

We have talked enough that you know of our family's love of animals -- by family, of course I include the canine and feline members, too. I'm really sorry for all of you for this loss.

We named a part of our property for Romeo, our black and white tabby who died about a year ago. He is buried near the Picture Oak as we call it that will be a focal point for our house. We will grow wildflowers there -- it's named "Romeo's Garden" and there is a small sign with a hummingbird and a flower with that name. It will be our pet place, but like you, we're not excited about using it. They are all unique, like us. Remember the joy of living with that special "person." I'm happy that we have land where we can painfully lay them to rest, but know where they are.

Bill
