rf33,
Here's a better pic. It's both aluminum and steel.
Looks like you have the tailgate off your truck? Do you keep it off all the time? Ever look at one of those tailgates that have the cut out for GN/5th wheel hitches?

MIke,
Actually it was just down to put the trailer on. I don't take it off as a general rule.
I have never seen one with that combo aluminum / steel setup. My horse trailer (a Sundowner) has both aluminum and steel, but I have never seen it in a flatbed. Does it seem lighter than a standard steel? I assume that it must be lighter, I was just wondering if it 'felt' lighter too? Does it seem sturdy enough to drive heavy equipment up onto? What is the max weight rating of the thing? Sorry for all of the questions, but I am curious why I don't see more like this.

rf 33,
It seems pretty heavy duty. I'm not sure about what the weight of it is. I have to take some hay to the auction in a few weeks so I'll find out then. As far as feel goes I really can't tell that much of a difference. I will tell you though that I had 7 round bales on there that weigh between 1600-2000 lbs. each and my tractor and loader, which I guess at around 5-6k and the trailer hauled it no problem. At a minimum I would say I had 17k on the trailer. I still had room at the axles for clearance and it pulled fine. The max is 20k on it so if the trailer is anywhere around 3k I was pretty much there. My truck was a little slow off the line though /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif. I've seen a few like this one but not very many.
