Alright, I've got an opportunity to buy a 30 foot tandem dual gooseneck trailer in real good shape, and sell my 18 foot bumper pull, and be about $1000.00 outta pocket. Question is, I have a 2014 3/4 ton Ford, 6.2 gas with 4.30 gears, is it enough truck? I'm not hauling anything real heavy, my tractor is a MF 1533 and Ranger 570, haul about 12 round bales twice a year for my mother in law, that's about it. I sold my last gooseneck, which was a 20 foot with 5 foot dovetail singe tire tandem axle, and the truck pulled it like a champ. I guess what I'm really wanting to know is how heavy does a trailer this size and the dual tires feel behind a 3/4 ton? I know all about the braking, and I'm not worried about the truck stopping it, because I always keep good brakes on the trailers, and I don't get in any hurry when pulling, I'm just curious if it's gonna pull the truck apart being too heavy and riding terrible. Thanks for any/all replies in advance!!

What is size,weight/foot of main frame? Had a 30foot with a 30lb/foot main I beam and felt like dragging around a sled. Traded for a 20ftplus 5 with 20lb/foot frame handled backhoe through rookies just fine a pulled so much easier. Pulled with dodge cummins 5 speed

A 30 ft. dual tandem is probably pretty heavy empty. Find out how much it weighs and check your vehicle GCWR and don't go to far past that wt. you should be fine towing it with the gasser.

That's a good question, the guy that owns it said he took it across the scales when he first got it and it came in at 6700lbs, he thinks, but the pound/foot would probably be near impossible to find out.

GCWR 5th wheel on my truck is 22200lbs, I believe the truck weighs 7100, trailer weighs 6700?, tractor and Ranger together weigh around 5000, another 1000 of gear/tools, so I'm looking at around 19800lbs give or take a beer or 2 lol.

Do you have a CDL? That trailer likely has a GVW of 20k. Add that to your truck and you are over 26k which means CDL, medical card, log books, DOT number, etc.

It doesn't sound like you have a need for a trailer that large?? A gas motor will be working hard to pull a trailer that big once you start loading it up.

Trailer will put you into CDL rules for sure. 6700 lbs seems a little light for a 30ft tandem...

I would do it. You haul bales twice a year. I'm guessing with a gasser you are not pulling the tractor anywhere regularly, maybe to dealer or once a month at most. You have experience with pickups, trailers, brakes, loads, etc. Should ride better than your bumper pull, by far. You have experience with a 25 foot gooseneck thus know if you can handle 5 more feet. Expertise, care and driving skill are on your side and infrequent use argue for getting it for the extra convenience of having the load length. Check state laws...if you are not hauling commercially and it has farm tags, you may not need CDL.
