RedNeckRacin is online now
I don't think I have ever seen anything lighter than 5k axles on them and they were pretty old looking trailers.

feather lite put 3500lb axles under my 20 ft gooseneck horse trailer.

Ok, a horse trailer or a camper fine. But how many equipment / flat deck gooseneck have lighter than 5k axles unless they were homemade?

No it's mine. Checking tires as we speak ...

One ST tire says Max press with two axles: 2470 lbs,
The other tire on the drivers side looks like an LT tire but I know it is bigger than the other
Not sure what the other side has on it

Looking at the decking, it looks like it is going to be an ATV trailer, not an equipment trailer.

this is a statement I agree with

Looking at the decking, tells me it's a homemade POS. Apparently untreated 2x4s and plywood, really? Strictly amateur hour.

No offense.

Ok, so it's obviously scratch built. Before you figure out a weight limit for this thing, what is your intended use going to be? Hauling dirt bikes and snow mobiles, or? If this is really an old camper trailer frame that has been "repurposed" into a flatbed, understand that on a camper trailer, part of the structural integrity of the frame comes from the framework of the camper walls and roof tying the whole thing together. Removing the camper "box" off the top, results in a very weak and flexible trailer frame.

There is probably only one axle on that trailer that has brakes on it. Maybe both do, but likely as not only one. Make sure you go through those brakes and that they do in fact work. I would also recommend getting a matching set of tires, all the same size and weight rating on that trailer. Go through the lights and make sure the break away emergency brakes work. Oh and get some fenders on that thing. The less conspicuous you make it look, the less likely some bored cop will pull that thing over for a look.

Now with all that out of the way, I would not advise putting more than 4 or 5K in weight on that thing, ever. And really 4K would be pushing it. Due to the nature of the trailer frame you are working with, and it's inherent weakness. Just because someone welded a gooseneck hitch to the front end of it, don't treat it in your mind as a true "gooseneck" equipment trailer.

That would really suck if it is in-fact a homemade death trap

The most I would put on that homemade trailer is a light load of DRY feathers!
You really should put that trailer on Craigslist.......and sell it....if you can!
Then,....just hope you never see the buyer on the highway with a REAL load.

I find this thread interesting. Not saying all said is incorrect but have some questions. I am in process of using a camper frame for a hay trailer. It has been used a lumber trailer previous to my buying it but having to replace the trailer flooring for my need due to the rotten stage it had gotten to. Pulling off the original flooring it was built a fair amount like the one being asked about but not treated wood for it had sheet of very heavy plastic protecting from road moisture and of course the camper protected the top side. I have no doubt the frame is strong enough and stiff enough for support 10,000 and probably more of hay. Has been compared to factory made flat bed and the frame is a large as the factory made flat bed but of course I do not know the grade of either of the I beams used.

I really find it hard to believe a camper frame offers much support to the chassis as the ones I have seen the material use for sides and top is not much to it. Are you sure the body frame supports more weight than the body is?

How are you sure it is a camper frame? Is it the metal uprights at the tires?

How are you sure the goose-neck frame was attached and not factory?

I do agree it is a small bed and axle to be a goose neck. For that short of bed on a goose neck would have expect it to have been for a small dozier or such.

Like I said all those points may be correct, just wondering more about them.

Just curios but what does the title show on it, as for manufacturer and weight , if you have a title? Also what are your planed uses for the trailer? As for the trailer, looks to me like a basic utility trailer with a gooseneck hitch instead of a pumper pull, I’ve seen many like it, heck you can still by one like it today even in a 20 ft version. Some people opt to have the gooseneck hitch over a bumper pull, could been a licensing issue, until recently here to get permanent plates the trailer had to be a gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch. obliviously it’s a older trailer which wasn’t unusual back then to even have a home made title in some states even though it was a small company building them.
