;)A guy a mile down the road from me was having a yard sale yesterday . When I spotted
a tiller with small trees growing around it on the side yard. Asked him about it and
his wife chimed in and announced she would give it to me if I cut the trees and stumps
down she was tired of looking at it and cutting grass around it. So I headed to the house
and drove my tractor backhoe down to retrieve my prize. It had set there 5 years and
never been used she bought it in a packaged deal but had never taken the bush hog off .
Apparently the wife's duties were cutting the 10 ac she owned and her new husband did
not possess any mechanical skills . I have a friend who has a Yanmar and we hooked it up
this afternoon changed oil and fired it up ,it is the quietest running tiller I have ever seen.
:dance1: But it will not fit on my 3 point hitch and I will need to do a little welding to make it work.
It is too narrow and set back to far to work on my quick hitch . Have any members made
this type of modifications before to these type of tillers? It is a RS1400 Tiller and my quick
hitch is cheap Harbor Freek design.

My friend with the Yanmar tractor was pist ! He ask me how I could sleep tonight ,
but after a few beers he seemed ok. He did seem happy that it would not fit on my 3 point hitch.
The funnest part is he said he passed by the same yard sale 4 times Saturday going to the store.
But welding is my passion and I have already started working on making it fit . A quick look
on the net and there are a few that have cobbled adapters on these tillers . I will post some
photos of whatever I do to convert it to work .

Nice find, a little welding and you should be good to go.

NICE!

One can always make free implements work:cool:

Looks like it has 'rice' tines also.

Good find, will it fit, without using your quick hitch?

Well it was a productive day in the shop today most of the fabrication is done
and it looks like I can make it work with or without the quick hitch. I had to stop
because I will need to buy a slip clutch before I weld anything permanent.
I did however take a lot of photos cause no one else on this form seems to
have done this before or at least I could not find any photos.
 The first photo is of me lining up the distance between the new hitch pins.

 This is a me leveling the tiller and using a plumb bob to guesstimate how long
to cut the angle iron . It ended up 11.5 inches.

:D This is a shot of a tab on the old hitch pins that has to go for a good fit.

:thumbsup:These are a set of center punches that place the punch dead center of the hole.
Real handy if you are needing to be precise.

:2cents:Always check for level on both points or trouble is headed your way.

:dance1:The next set of photos is drilling , five different size bits were used
to step up the hole to the desired size .Marking and center punching the tabs
that are to hold the hitch pins. The pins were cut to allow a good fit .

The tractor was backed in place and you can see the drive shaft extended and collapsed in the next set of photos.
I will need to buy a slip clutch next to find my final weld points .
I will post more photos as I proceed.
